Cosmetic Acupuncture

This area of treatment is becoming more and more popular and is useful for both improving the skins tone, elasticity, drooping areas of the neck and jaw line. Patients report improvements after several treatments. Please ask Kay about her research performed in 2008/2009. Treatments are designed to help to reduce lines and wrinkles, to improve the skins natural glow, skin tone and colour. Its also designed to help with the appearance of stress on the face and aids in relaxing the whole body. Lymphatic drainage can also be stimulated along with the skins overall appearance.

It is a cost effective, natural, relaxing, alternative to other treatments and can help with the appearance of sagging skin, wrinkled skin with loss of tone and is also beneficial to numerous skin conditions.

A course of 10 to 12 treatments is generally recommended with a follow up maintenance treatment. Additional treatments can be performed along with this for example aromatherapy can be performed in-between your Acupuncture treatment, mixing oils to suit your skin and your condition.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used extensively in China for over 4000 years. In recent years it has been a very popular treatment in the UK. Treatment is performed to help to create a balance in the bodies energy pathways. These pathways are commonly known as meridians and flow all over the body. It is thought that problems can occur when energy becomes blocked and this can then lead to pain and illness, Acupuncture can help to restore the natural balance and therefore improve health.

Western theories describe Acupuncture working by raising levels of hormones and antibodies, stimulating the secretion of endorphins, neurotransmitters and adrenaline and also the constriction or dilation of blood vessels. It is thought to affect the way we perceive pain. Therefore it now being used extensively to treat a variety of conditions, it is advised that all patients consult their GP prior to seeking treatment. Because Acupuncture can induce a state of relaxation it can be beneficial to both physical and emotional conditions.
