Traditional Chinese Medicine

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used extensively in China for over 4000 years. In recent years it has been a very popular treatment in the UK. Treatment is performed to help to create a balance in the bodies energy pathways. These pathways are commonly known as meridians and flow all over the body. It is thought that problems can occur when energy becomes blocked and this can then lead to pain and illness, Acupuncture can help to restore the natural balance and therefore improve health.

Western theories describe Acupuncture working by raising levels of hormones and antibodies, stimulating the secretion of endorphins, neurotransmitters and adrenaline and also the constriction or dilation of blood vessels. It is thought to affect the way we perceive pain. Therefore it now being used extensively to treat a variety of conditions, it is advised that all patients consult their GP prior to seeking treatment. Because Acupuncture can induce a state of relaxation it can be beneficial to both physical and emotional conditions.
